We take receipts seriously. That is why it is worth being exact about what a card cannot do.

A card is not a verdict

Filing a claim in the hall is not a finding that the speaker is a fool, or that the target is a saint. It means: this accusation arrived at high volume, here is where it was said, here is the file we kept, and here is the gap. The caption is an eyebrow, not a sentence from a court.

The quotes are theirs

We quote or mark a paraphrase. The words belong to the person who said them, and the original page belongs to whoever published it. If the source moves or dies, the git file is why we kept a copy — not because we adopted the claim.

Not advice, not a how-to-vote

Nothing here is legal advice, financial advice, or a suggestion about where to put a 1. It is not electoral matter asking you to vote for or against anyone. Listing a figure, a party, or a journalist is not an endorsement and not a smear of our own.

Not complete

Absence from the hall is not a clean bill of health. Presence is not proof the speaker is uniquely terrible. We would rather leave a gap than invent a row.

We are not the original outlet

If we and the original source disagree about what was said, open both. The source URL is on the card. If we misquoted, tell us here and we will correct the file, not rewrite history in place.

The humour is aimed at the missing step, not at a person’s existence. If a caption smuggles a second accusation, that is a bug. Email ce@cantexplain.au.
