Terms of use
Short version: read the hall, quote it with a link, do not pretend a caption is a court finding. If that is too much, the back button still works.
Updated 14 Aug 2026.
1. Using the site
By using cantexplain.au you accept these terms, plus the privacy page and the disclaimer. They are part of the same deal.
2. What this is
A free, independent hall of loud claims with thin evidence. Static pages. No promise it will be here tomorrow, only that while it is here the files are in git. Nobody is entitled to uptime, a sequel, or a card about their enemy.
3. What you may reuse
- Code is MIT. Fork it, fix it, argue with it.
- Our writing — captions, method, these terms — may be quoted with attribution to cantexplain.au. That is the price.
- Logos and the name are not a costume. Do not use them to imply we endorse you, your party, or your thread.
- Other people’s words — the quotes, headlines, and pages we cite — remain theirs. We link. We do not relicense the Guardian.
4. How to read a card
A card files a claim, a source, and a receipt. The caption is observational humour, not a second accusation and not a verdict. If you republish a figure or a quote from here, take the source with it. Leaving the receipt behind is how this hall gets new members.
5. Please do not
- Scrape us into a smear pack and leave our name on it as if we signed it.
- Hammer the site in a way that knocks it over. It is a small static box.
- Pass off our captions as news copy.
- Upload malware, because we have nowhere to put it and would rather you didn’t try.
6. No warranty
The site is offered as-is. We try to get the source URL and the file right. We do not promise completeness, legal advice, or that a politician will have a good day. See the disclaimer.
